Renovating a property with energy efficiency in mind
If you are renovating a property one of the things you may want to look at is the energy efficiency.
Many homeowners are concerned with the rising cost of their household bills and are eager to find ways to save money on their electricity, gas or oil costs so improving the energy efficiency of the property is a top priority for them.
Ensuring that there is adequate insulation in the property is the first thing to check especially in the loft area as a great deal of heat is lost through the ceilings and walls of the house. Having cavity wall insulation installed is worthwhile if the property is older and does not have wall insulation that was installed when the property was built.
The majority of heat is lost through windows and doors of a home and so a survey on their energy efficiency is a good idea. Double or even triple glazing can save the property owner a great deal of money and may at the same time cut down on noise from busy roads.
Changing the gas boiler to a more efficient type is a good move specially if the old boiler is more than ten years old. The gas combi boiler only heats the water that you need so this is far more efficient than heating a tank of water that you may not use.
