Operating Lifting Equipment with Health and Safety in Mind
Lifting equipment is incredibly important in completing tasks as easily as possible and making work safer for employees. In order for them to be able to enjoy the benefits of using lifting equipment, they need to know how to do so in accordance with health and safety rules. Here are the things to bear in mind when operating lifting equipment:
- Check slings. They should all be in good working order and should be free from holes or weak spots. Carry out a visual inspection before using lifting slings.
- Give all staff full training. They should be completely familiar with the machinery they are operating and should have had a chance to read the manual thoroughly. Provide ongoing training to keep knowledge up to date.
- Keep up with inspections. Your cranes and other pieces of lifting equipment will need to be serviced on a regular basis. You may also want to have them inspected more often.
