When it comes to choosing an electrician to carry out electrical work in your home, you may not know where to start. Not all electricians will have formal qualifications abs this isn’t always vital as long as they have lots of experience and are up to date with the latest regulations.

Ideally you want to use someone hat has been recommended to you by someone else as then you have an idea of how good their workmanship is. If they are doing a lot of work you may be able to ask them to carry out an electrical test on your home and provide you with a certificate to show that it has all been done correctly.

As with any trader, there are sites online where you can look up reviews for that person or company. You do need to be careful when taking these reviews in to account as they may not all be completely genuine and sometimes people have asked family or friends to create the reviews or even paid for the reviews to be written.

Many electricians belong to a sponsor who will come and check that they are working correctly and up to date with the latest regulations.
