Rooflights and Architecture – Making a Statement

Rooflights are regularly used on commercial and domestic buildings, to give the space extra daylight. If you are going to install a rooflight, you may also want to make it into a feature and this is something that architects are increasingly incorporating when designing a building.

Architects will now often specify where rooflights should be placed, to make them a central feature of the building. They will often give an idea of the shape and dimensions they require. An architect may not be able to specify the exact rooflight design though – this will usually need to be decided in conjunction with a rooflight company who can manufacture custom built bespoke rooflights. They will need to work with the architect in order to design a rooflight that is perfect for the designated space. This will include giving the rooflight manufacturer the exact design and technical spec in order to commission the design and build of the product.
